There are very serious concerns about the 2024 election results focused on unnatural data patterns that are emerging daily. These include:
There are events that occurred on or around the voting in a wide variety of contexts:
- Over 200 bomb threats that disrupted voting and may have impacted the chain of custody of ballots. (Report to be released soon).
- The disruption to the process merits a full investigation, one that focuses on whether or not election results were impacted in any way.
- Known security breaches of voting machines.
- A hardwired password in all Dominion systems was released to the public. According to security expert Chris Klaus, it would be an easy way to win the swing states, all but North Carolina use Dominion Voting machines in some counties.
- Much higher drop-off rates on the Republican side than the Democratic side and also higher Republican drop-off rates than in previous election cycles.
- Three separate letters from security experts listing their worries and asking for hand recounts, or investigations. (LInks to those letters are provided below.)
To keep you informed about these issues we've started a Substack and hope you'll subscribe. Some posts have received over 35,000 views. We think you’ll find it fascinating!
SUNSHINE IS THE BEST DISINFECTANT
We must either reassure voters that the 2024 election results are accurate—or pinpoint trouble spots. The only meaningful way do this is to take prompt, decisive action to fully investigate each concern. We must conduct transparent counts of ballots or digital ballot images in any jurisdiction where the public does not have full confidence in the results. That is the responsible action to take.
We need to examine actual election records in as many states as possible to fully investigate these concerns. In many states these documents are publicly accessible by law, but the reality is that county officials often resist sharing these records. It can require multiple requests and the delays can be lengthy.
WE WANT YOUR HELP
We hope you will join us in doing everything we can to protect our elections. Trust in our election process has plummeted over the last decade. Even prior to this election, “Only 37% of Americans believe[d] the 2024 elections [would] be both ‘honest and open.’” Now, that percentage could be even lower.
A democracy cannot function when voters do not believe the election results year after year. Fortunately, this collapse of confidence has an antidote: transparency and public oversight.
We extend to you a warm welcome, and invite you to join us immediately in this effort. Many in our community have been doing this work for twenty years. It is time to amplify those concerns to create a transpartisan national movement for election reform and election transparency.
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
SMART Elections, with a small army of volunteers have been working non-stop for the last two months. With the data we have collected:
- We have completed: a comprehensive analysis of the drop off rates in 17 states – six swing and eleven non-swing.
- Drop-off is not a formal term, as far as we know. It refers to the difference between the votes for the President and the next down-ballot race.
- Our data has confirmed that on the Republican side there appears to be a much higher drop-off than on the Democratic side.
- According to our current data the average drop-off rate on the Republican side in the swing states for Trump is 5.6%. On the Democratic side, Harris has an approximately -1.5% negative drop-off rate. Meaning on average she is reported as having fewer votes than the next down ballot race (usually the Senate race).
- The drop-off rate can be impacted by many things:
- Voters cross voting between parties (normal)
- Voters choosing independent or 3rd party candidates (normal)
- Voters uninterested in down ballot races (it happens)
- Ballots, votes and/or voters being illegitimately added or subtracted from totals or changed (illegal)
We have filed two lawsuits:
- One in New York City regarding gross irregularities in the June 2024 primary
- One in Rockland County New York where the Republican drop-off rate is 23% and the Democratic presidential candidate drop-off is -9%.
- In this county we have documentation that independent Senate candidate Diane Sare’s votes were not counted or reported correctly.
We are in the process of completing and releasing:
- An additional analysis of the drop-off rate
- A full accounting of all the bomb threats and technical issues that occurred on or shortly after election day
- An examination of the audits that have been performed
- An analysis of the internet connectivity of the voting machines
- An exploration of the possible means of attack on the election results
WHAT ARE WE DOING NEXT?
We are exploring legal action with other allies.
We have plans to undertake:
- Public records requests of election records
- Examination of election data, especially in key areas of concern
- An analysis of the ability of cell tower, satellite, or wireless technology to access voting technology
- An assessment of how many counties flipped and in what direction
- An examination of the election results sorted by technology and software versions
- Multiple statistical analyses of the drop-off data
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
- Urgent Immediate Funding Required:
- We have raised $45,000 in the last few months.
- Thank you so much to all of our donors. We could not be doing this work without you.
- We estimate that we need to raise at least another $105,000 or more to fully fund our work for the next year.
- $65,000 is needed to pay for staffing, organizing costs, and technology platforms.
- $40,000 more is needed to cover court and legal fees.
- $50,000, additionally, would be tremendously useful for a publicity campaign to change the public perception on this issue.
- Total costs could ultimately be much higher.
- These funds must be raised by connecting with those who are passionate about this issue, understand its profound implications and have deep resources to support a nation-wide movement for change.
Our organization has massively scaled up in a short period of time.
- Over 1000 volunteers or individuals have reached out to get involved.
- Because of this, and because of our ambitions to both investigate the 2024 election and vastly improve U.S. elections long term, we are hoping to connect with you!
- We are forming regional and state teams to educate and empower voters locally.
- We hope you will join us!

TIMING
The reality is that investigating these issues in a thorough and responsible way is taking longer than we had hoped. These are complex issues and we have to be careful not to make mistakes and not to overstate what the data shows, otherwise our work will be immediately discredited and disregarded.
ACADEMIA & MEDIA
The general silence from the academic community and the media is unconscionable, but not surprising. Newsweek has been a breath of fresh air in their publication of two articles offering an even-handed view of concerns about the 2024 election results. Both articles cited our work.
The culture that has developed around election technology is that it is functioning correctly, and if it is not functioning correctly there must be overwhelming proof that it is not functioning correctly. However the access to prove that the technology is not functioning correctly does not exist. There is rarely full access to ballots, digital ballot images, poll tapes, cast vote records or the other election records that would make a full, transparent and believable confirmation of election results possible. Hand counts, where they exist, are usually only of a small number of votes, and almost never escalated, no matter the results. Audits as they currently exist in the U.S. tend to be a kind of security theater that is designed to placate the public, rather than truly confirm that the results are correct.
CONCERNS EXPRESSED IN WRITING
Trustworthy and experienced sources have expressed deep concerns about the election.
- Free Speech For People, a leading anti-corruption organization
- Security expert Stephen Spoonamore issued an urgent Duty to Warn letter to Vice President Harris expressing grave doubts about the authenticity of some vote totals. Mr. Spoonamore has since released an update, clarifying the language that he used, but continuing to raise concerns. Our own data is substantiating his report, and other data points are emerging that raise additional concerns.
- Citizens Oversight Projects, and many leading election security advocates signed a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland asking for an investigation of the election.
STATES
We are currently examining data and records in about two dozen states that have unusual voting patterns or other suspect circumstances such as bomb threats.
ABOUT SMART ELECTIONS
We're one of the few organizations with the expertise, experience and credibility to do this work effectively. Our work has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, and other major media outlets. We work with coalition partners across the political spectrum and are respected as being truly nonpartisan.
We are continuing to release reports of irregularities that we are finding on our Substack. Please read it regularly. The landscape is changing rapidly. We must find the issues - or confirm with renewed confidence that the election was well-administered and fair in all areas.
Our previous work exposed critical issues - like reporting to the public that 5,840 uncounted ballots in Georgia's 2020 election (nearly 50% of the margin of victory) were not counted prior to Georgia’s 2020 audit. We must act collaboratively now—with coalition partners across the political spectrum—to bring full transparency to the 2024 election, improve the confidence of the electorate and the world in our election process, and most importantly protect future elections.
TAKE ACTION NOW
