Script: Ban All-In-One Voting Machines.
"Hybrid" or "All-In-One voting machines are a new type of voting system that security experts do not recommend using because they have many new risks. One of the main problems with these voting machines is that the ballot passes under the printer head AFTER the voter casts it. So the machine has the ability to change the voter's choices. Security experts have called this a "disaster." The New York State Board of Elections has already certified one of these - the Dominion ICE. That voting machine is now in use in at least 15 counties in NY. The State Board of Elections is in the process of certifying another hybrid called The ExpressVote XL. I don't want to vote on a machine where the printer can change my vote. I deserve to know that my vote will be counted accurately, and I do not want to vote on a hybrid system.
I support A8597 (Paulin)/ S6733 (Myrie)
(To find out more about hybrid voting machines and the dangers of their introduction into New York and around the country - watch our video investigation. The first two parts are on our home page. Each part is 5 minutes long.)
Script: Ban Party Chairs from Being Election Commissioners
For too long, New York has participated in crony elections instead of focusing on their fair and accurate administration. It is time to move our elections beyond Tammany Hall into a new era of transparency and efficiency.
I support A4815 (Galef)/ S3309 (Carlucci) to prevent the conflict of interest that arises when Democratic and Republican party officials run their own elections.
Script: Any Commissioner can Escalate an Audit
New York conducts manual audits on 3% of its voting machines. But these audits are basically useless currently because if a problem is discovered - commissioners from both parties must agree to look further. There is no incentive for the winning party's candidate to examine the ballots further so our current audits are not serving the purpose of checking if the results are accurate.
I support A8448 (Paulin)/ S6735 (Myrie)
So that we can examine the results of our elections carefully, and if there is a problem - look further.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING TO PROTECT YOUR VOTE!
