MEMORIALS

Remembering those who have passed.

Ginna Holmes Moore

Ginna Holmes Moore was maximally engaged in our Hudson community, and that engagement extended to running for and holding office and appointed positions as well as serving as a poll worker. She took life and our community very seriously. She knew that a thriving community rests on the willingness of individuals to serve, which she did, with enthusiasm. She took nothing for granted. She is very sorely missed.

- Dedication written by Virginia Martin

Athan Gibbs (Tru-Vote inventor)

U.S. Representative Jim Cooper said of Athan, "Mr. Gibbs was a patriot, a pastor, and a visionary entrepreneur who took it upon himself to restore Americans' faith in the democratic process ... A Memphis native who came of age in the 1950s and 1960s, Mr. Gibbs experienced first hand the struggle for equality at the voting booth. " (Read more.)

DEDICATIONS

In honor of those who inspire us.

Timothy Snyder

"You are doing such essential work ... I'm reading "On Tyranny" by Timothy Snyder. There are a lot of excellent ideas in the book. The one I think of most readily when I think of the work that SMART Elections is doing is 'Defend institutions'. It is institutions that help us preserve decency. They need our help as well. Institutions do not protect themselves. They fall one after the other unless each is defended from the beginning. That, pre-eminently, is what you do. Thank you!"
